Cheryl your point is well taken, but I am sure the reason is no real mystery to you or anyone else.
The mainstream media is the stepchild of the 1 percent and it is more a means of steering the debate than furnishing the unwashed masses with relevant information, for instance if you were to just read the mainstream media you would think the occupy movement is over and done even though none of the issues it was about have been addressed, in fact it has gotten decidedly worse on all fronts, with our very civil rights and personal freedoms now being assailed on every front.
As you point out is it any wonder why the government now wants to control social media and the internet as well, they have seen the power of these communication tools unfold around the world over the last few years, china has already dealt with it and now it is our turn, big brother is here and we have seen his face, and all felt King Stevens oppressive hand every day of his rule, especially for the last few years since getting a majority.
