Omnibus protest

I was at the OMNIBUS protest in front of our perpetually absent MP Randy Kamp’s office and took great pride at all the caring Canadian patriots holding their signs and braving the bitter cold to protest the so many things wrong with this government it is impossible to focus on one issue anymore, I was heartened by the young people that had the courage and foresight to join us. 

But sadly they were not what was foremost on my mind, it was the thousands of people that were not there, I suppose they were sitting in front of the TV watching some movie they have seen 3 times or maybe even watching the news and getting angry over something they don’t approve of, maybe even this very protest rally. 

I have to wonder where were the people that expect our government to be at least competent money manager a government that turned a surplus into the biggest deficit in Canadian history $647 billion, they even managed to lose $3.1 billion dollars and have the Canadian dollar at an abysmal 80 cents, where were the unemployed 7.2 percent of Canadians who should be outraged that 446,847 foreign workers are in Canada doing Canadian jobs, everything from non-skilled to skilled jobs and the fact that this government has failed miserably in making sure there are Canadians trained for these positions, talking about incompetence you have a government that seems to pay 3 to 10 times as much for everything they do or buy such as the G-20 and an icebreaker for example, where were the people that care about public health care where because of Conservative environmental polices (or to be more specific lack of environmental laws) you have 400 percent increases in cancer rates in certain areas and at the same time the government is trying to get rid of public health care, where were the people that don’t believe that only commercially viable wildlife species should be protected by the government of Canada or that only 97 lakes and 62 rivers out of 2.25 million lakes and rivers deserve protection, or how about forcing environment destroying pipelines on a majority of people that do not want them, Harper has acted to destroy environmental law brought in as far back as Sir John A. Macdonald. Where were the people that don’t believe the government should be spying on innocent Canadians and our allies, where were the people that are angry that Canada’s government has for the first time in history litteraly given away Canada’s sovereignty (a treasonous act in my mind) and infringing on Canadians right to make laws consistent with Canadians rights and values such as protecting our enviroment, rights of privacy, voting rights, for example where were the people that don’t want Americas police sweeping into Canadian homes to take you away for supposedly breaking some obscure American law that they can’t even enforce in their own country ( this just happened in Vancouver where Seattle police raided an old age home looking for drugs and never found any, it was according to our government a simple misunderstanding) I guess we should be thankful they are not going to prosecute the older lady that resisted them or even just had a drone put a missile through the front door. 

Where were the people that hate the fact that Canada the peace keeper has been turned into a gunboat diplomacy thug, a hypocrite of the highest order a leader that calls good environmentalists and scientists that disagrees with them terrorists and at the same time hobnobs with real monster terrorists.

Where were all the mothers and fathers that always believed their children would be brought up in a Democracy and do they even know what that means and instead have a government that without debate and once again using giant omnibus bills is purposely making voting harder for Canadians and in affect disenfranchising 100s of thousands of Canadian voters, where were the people that are incensed with the way our war veterans are disrespected and treated, where were the people that don’t like MPs getting up and spouting barefaced lies and then within days turning around and recanting his testimony with the feeble excuse that he misspoke, where is the honesty, integrity, ethics where is the respect of democratic principles of this government and our Prime Minister that has been found guilty of contempt. 

They lie on a daily basis, flagrant illegal election law abuses and their pathetic answer to fixing these abuses is to disenfranchising even more voters and making sure there is no one there to catch them in the next election when they do the same thing to steal yet another election. 

I realize Canadians are a very laid back passive people but time is running out for Canadian's and their quasi-democracy in Steven Harpers own words quote “you will not recognize Canada when I am through with it” well Canada, he has already made it unrecognizable from the Canada I was born into and the democracy my father and so many others fought and died for it’s professed ideals and democratic principals. 

I loved how Canada was a world leader sometimes biting off more than it could chew but always trying to lead the world in the right direction. I sorely miss that Canada.

I know this letter is to long but anybody that has been paying attention knows that I have only scratched the surface of this governments corruption, incompetence, destructive shortsighted economic and environmental polices.

RE: No more federal voter cards The News Feb 14 /2014

What a surprise our local town cryer Randy Kamp totally agrees with C- 23, the Conservatives claim to want to fix our democracy and get more people to vote but most of all stop all the voter fraud, I hardly see how that is possible when the whole exercise will make it harder to vote for 10s if not 100s of thousands of legitimate voters, never mind the fact that much of what they propose is totally against Canada’s charter of rights and freedoms, "the right of every citizen to vote, guaranteed by s.3 of the Charter, lies at the heart of Canadian democracy” even prisoners get to vote in Canada, the charter also says “A voter can establish Canadian citizenship verbally by oath” I have to wonder what will happen to absentee voting ballots under this new law or will they also be disenfranchised as well. 

The extent of the so-called voter fraud C-23 is supposed to fix involved less than a dozen people in the last election, hardly what I would call a voter fraud crisis.

Mr. kamp is right about one thing there were “significant irregularities” in the last election but as has been proven in a significant number of instances these were committed by the Conservative party, the so-called Robocalls and other crimes and irregularities and these will only get worse because many of the people that are the watch dogs of the elections act and watched for these crimes and irregularity’s such as the Chief Electoral Officer have been removedly with this affront to Democracy.

There are many things wrong with our Canadian Democracy and electoral system as Mr. Harper and his accomplices have proved repeatedly but they involve first past the post elections, wilfully breaking existing laws, improper proroques and 2nd and 3rd party advertising and less than truthful constant attack ads and corruption in the House and Senate and last but not least the unreasonable power and advantage money plays in our political system. 

It is clear this is a despicable clumsy attempt to get even less voters out on election day which plays well for the Conservatives. Another thing they fixed was now you and me can contribute $1500.00 dollars to elections, I don’t think they had you and me in mind for that one but the CEOs and the Conservatives will be happy.

If the CONS are truly serious about eliminating election fraud they would simply not run any candidates in the next Federal election which would eliminate not one but two problems, first it would not only eliminate 99.9 percent of election fraud but bring Canada back to it’s former status as a Democracy. Hopefully our new government would then prioritize fixing some of the more obvious real flaws in Canada’s electoral and Democratic system such as first past the post, elected Senate with more powers and a fairer distibution of Senators determined by a regions population and the resulting sorely needed checks and balances, deal seriously with corruption in the House and Senate and taking the money out of the electoral system, and last but not least coming up with a version of Democracy that doesn’t totally depend on the good character or lack off character of our elected representatives as to whether Canada has a functioning healthy Democracy or not.

Corrupt inequitable unsustainable economic system

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black, Cherryl can hardly wait for that one person in the world that owns everything and everything in the world will be set right and Cherryl can worship him as a GOD and the trickle down will make the world into heaven. Well contrary to wacko philosophy here is the reality. 

This week, the world’s wealthy and powerful meet in Davos, Switzerland, for their annual talk fest and exchange of business cards. This year several panels have been organized around the theme of widening inequality – which has grown even more extreme since the Great Recession, both in the U.S. and around the world. As you probably know, the 400 richest Americans have more wealth than the bottom half of the American population combined – and since the “recovery” began in 2009, the wealthiest 1 percent have got 95 percent of the economic gains while the bottom 90 percent has become poorer. But the U.S. isn’t the only place where inequality is surging. A new report from Oxfam shows that the world’s richest 85 people now have the same amount of wealth ($1.7 trillion) as the bottom half the world's population combined (that’s 3.5 billion people). The world’s wealthiest 1 percent have $110 trillion, 65 times the total wealth of the bottom half of the world.

The right in the U.S. (and Cherryl of course) considers any mention of this sort of thing “class warfare,” motivated by envy. In reality, it's a growing threat to global capitalism. But what are the chances that the wealthy and powerful, meeting in Davos, will be motivated to do anything about it? 

In my humble opinion not much as there are to many like Cherryl who worship this corrupt inequitable, unsustainable economic system that is totally controlled by money and those that have to much of it.

Re: Centre Conservatives beat left NDP Nov 7/2013 MR Times

Mr. Bulpit  as I have mentioned before your headache has nothing to do with me, it is a result of trying to make sense of a collection of political junk or more to the point contradictory and false notions in your brain or what is called Cognitive dissonance, it seems to be epidemic in the far right these days. 

First your letter was supposed to be a response yet at no time did you explain where the $3.1 billion dollars the Conservatives lost or who ended up with it, so much for a response. 

You would be the only person that knows me to call me hard left as Federally I have voted Liberal most of my life, although knowing what you believe to be the political system that is not surprising, once again the NDP in Canada are considered to be centre left, hard left would be Communist, the Liberals with the exception of the misnamed BC Liberal's are centre, centre right and the (reform-alliance) CONservatives and real Conservatives are considered right and in this present totally corporate controlled government are pushing into the realm of Fascism. 

The next delusion you are suffering from is that the CONservatives are strong financial managers, what can I say, do you actually read anything other than Randy Kamp’s newsletter and anything I write, the CONservatives took a Liberal surplus before the recession and turned it into the biggest deficit in Canadian history they pay 3 to 10 times more for anything they buy ( G20, icebreakers) more than anyone else, and they just lost $ 3.1 billion dollars, while at the same time selling Canada’s sovereignty, trashing all the environmental progress made over the last century, cut our social safety net to ribbons and let’s not forget them screwing veterans over royally and they are well on their way to destroying our public health care and as far as jobs goes, jobs for Chinese nationals do not count, I could go on but what is the point everybody but you knows all this stuff. 

As far as the free trade with Europe, it is hardly a done deal and if it was done as well as everything else they have touched, be very afraid, and not only that it is just a memorandum of understanding and if it did actually happen it won’t be with the CONservatives in power, if it becomes an actual free-trade treaty I would suspect it would look nothing like what Harper signed which was nothing more than a hasty distraction to take Canadians minds off all their corruptions and scandals and lost billions. 

Mr. Bulpit you count yourself among a very small radical fringe when you claim you are proud of being a Canadian at this sorry period in Canadian history, and by the way you obviously haven’t noticed we aren’t even welcome on the international stage anymore.

I have not given up on you Mr. Bulpit as there is a cure for ignorance but unfortunately not for stupidity, open your mind and read something other than CON propaganda.

True to form Mrs Katnich castigates a women for standing up for women's right’s and equality and yet another for trying to keep Canada from overtaking America as the country with the most of it’s  citizens in prison per capita in the whole world, it seems the prison industry is the CONservatives only real growth industry, right up there with the tar sands, another better idea from the CONS, never mind that 68 percent of the citizens of BC want pot legalized and 52 percent of Canadians want the same, well since when have CONservatives or Harper or Cherryl for that matter ever cared what the majority of Canadians want. 

I find it ironic that Cherryl a slavish champion of the very corporate and government whores that are the cause of every major problem she mentioned world poverty, genocide, wars and starvation and every other problem the world is faced with at this dangerous time in history. Cherryl is a quasi religious ultra-right wingnut, living proof that cognitive dissonance is alive and well in Canada and at least someone thinks there is an audience for ultra-rightwing tea-bagger retoric in Canada.

I wonder how one goes about losing $3.1 billion dollars, that can’t be easy, as that is a stack of $1000 dollar bills 1110 ft high. In fact you just can’t lose that much money, the truth is obviously that what the Harper government of Canada really spent that $3.1 billion dollars on would get every Canadian out in the streets, obviously this money was spent on something so heinous that Harper would rather Canadian's just believe they were just careless or are bad money managers ( theres certainly enough evidence of that already) than have you know the true destination of this massive missing amount of your tax dollars. We can at this time only guess where this money ended up perhaps in someones offshore tax free numbered account, or how about the CONservative re-election war chest, or a new highly advanced domestic spy system that monitors every Canadian every minute of every day, or maybe Harper bought some new state of the art stealth aircraft carrier and he doesn’t want anyone to know we have it, or maybe it was spent spying on our allies for some corporation, or to finance some foreign war that the Canadian people don’t support, knowing this crowd it could be something so bizarre that normal Canadians could not even comprehend it. 

Possibly this is the one illusive issue that would finally infuriate Canadians enough to get them off their couches and finally rid Canada of this fraudulently elected, illegitimate dictatorship, a government  with so many ongoing and past corruptions that with a true democracy we would have seen these quislings turfed long ago, and more than a few actually put behind bars.

One thing is for sure that money is not lost, it has just been misappropriated by a less than honest government and the Canadian people have a right to know who took it and why, and if it is illegal as I am sure it is most of the government should be put in jail because I believe that it is more than just a few of the CONS who know the whereabouts of these stolen Canadian tax dollars, or are the rest of the CONS content to just shrug their shoulders and write off the $3.1 billion as an accounting error.
